Musings from Gameweek 31
Cazorla’s six shots and two created chances produced a goal, an assist, and three bonus points resulting in a double-digit haul for the tricky Spaniard. With the drop in Fantasy form for Walcott, our eyes have turned to Cazorla. He’s averaging over three shots and two chances per game in his last five fixtures and has been rewarded with eight Fantasy points per game.
Arsenal’s two home games in the double fixture Gameweek 33 means we must be looking to him as a great candidate for the captain.
Yet again, the cheaper forwards delivered the points. Owners of Lambert, Benteke, and Berbatov should be a happy bunch as the strikers can’t stop scoring.
Berbatov is looking mighty tasty with the upcoming double Gameweek. However, the double fixture is Aston Villa away and Chelsea at home, which dampens the enthusiasm a little. But only a little. Aston Villa have a frail defence and Chelsea have a monster fixture list which could see them being vulnerable against Fulham.
Man City revival?
With the pressure now off I wouldn’t be surprised to see Manchester City demolish a few teams in the remaining six games. After Tottenham in Gameweek 34 they face WHU, swa, rea, and NOR in their last four games.
A calculated risk on Silva or Aguero could be a great last punt of the season.
There are eight teams that have a game to be played, meaning a double Gameweek sometime from now until the end of the season. Gameweek 33 sees Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham play out double fixtures, with some of the possible captain contenders scoring this Gameweek.
I already highlighted Cazorla and Berbatov. In addition, Everton’s defence shut out Stoke while Carrol’s brace gave indication that he could be a risky outside shout.
Van Persie goes without saying, but the risk will be that Manchester United will have already secured the title and Ferguson decides to give fringe players the chance to shine.
However, Bale and Vertonghen, both scoring in the double digits this Gameweek, will miss out in Gameweek 33. Following Chelsea’s FA Cup win against Manchester United, their game against Tottenham in Gameweek 33 has been postponed.
Mix in the rotation going on at Chelsea and Swansea also missing their Gameweek 33 and Fantasy managers holding Bale, Mata or Hazard, and Michu will be hit hard.
I’m documenting whether I’m passing the test with my captain picks. If a captain pick scores over three points in the Gameweek it is considered a success and I am also noting double-digit Gameweek scores.
In the Friday Foreplay for Gameweek 31 I recommended Van Persie, Bale, and Cazorla as captain picks. In probably the best prediction of the season all contenders delivered and got three bonus points.
Quality of captain picks:
- Good captain picks: 59/93
- Double digit captains: 25/93
