At least some are. Just look at some interviews and the headlines that are made from them and you just have to ask how that is not just lying. Sure, it is technically not a 100% lie, but it’s still what normal people would call lying every day.
Tom Dart’s article on Soccergods is short but to the point:
Cesc Fábregas was asked to expound on the same topic by Sky Sports last week, and attracted headlines that were far more dramatic than his actual comments: “Time will tell. It’s all up to us. We definitely have the talent, the discipline and the courage to do it from what I’ve seen so far from my short time here. I can see a team doing well but we have to work hard for it and at the end of the season we will speak about it.”
And the headline becomes “Fabregas: Chelsea can win quadruple” from a quote that the essential line is “at the end of the season we will speak about it.” Come on.
